Jim Thompson: World’s leading brand fabrics
Thompson’s Thai Silk business flourished, and in 1967, he inaugurated his inaugural shop on the iconic Surawong Road in Bangkok.
Jim also assembled a diverse array of Thai art. By the late 1950s, his collection had expanded significantly, prompting him to construct a dedicated space to showcase his splendid antique treasures. In 1959, Thompson’s renowned House on the Klong, comprised of six old teak wood houses from Bangkok’s Banh Krua area and Ayutthaya province’s Pak Hai, was fully realized.
